We opened the Manufaktura watch resale boutique in a former bus depot on Lesnaya Street. We were given one of the premises, with an area of 57 square meters. We divided the space into three parts: the main hall, a VIP room, and a technical area.
In the main hall, we wanted to convey the feeling that you are inside a watch movement. In the center of the square room, we placed a «gear» — a modular structure made of exposed industrial components. Pistons hold mirrors, and we didn’t hide any of the construction — it’s all visible. Inside the «gear,» we placed the watch display, the cash desk, and part of the storage. To keep the island from looking too industrial, we added American walnut veneer and Alcantara — they soften the ruggedness and add tactile comfort.
All the other furniture and display equipment in the main hall were built into the walls. We cut niches into the thick walls, with shapes that repeat the tooth of a gear. In the niches, we alternate between Alcantara display cells, pedestals, mirrors, Alcantara shelves, and hidden storage cabinets. For lighting, we used lightboxes that resemble minute markers in shape. The walls have two types of finishes: the main surface is textured, with a fur-like coating, while the niches are glossy.
We made the doors with a recessed cross-shaped detail. It functions like a transom, letting natural light inside. We design the handles individually for each project — this has already become our signature touch.
Behind one of these doors is a VIP room in the style of 1980s America. We assembled the walls from American walnut veneer panels and laid carpetile on the floor. Behind the panels, we hid a bar, and in a niche, we placed a velvet sofa. The room is illuminated by a lightbox, and in the center, we placed our signature table.
